8 Tips To Remain Calm All The Time

The world that we live in today has become an extremely hectic place. Our lives have become so fast-paced that we rarely have time even for ourselves. The more technological advances we make, the less patience we have during social interactions.

We are busy, we interact virtually and on top of that, we have no time to really take care of our mental health. Work pressure, family pressure, and relationship pressure all combine to stress us out and rob us of the inner calm and peace that we all want. How can we stay calm all the time and maintain our inner peace?

1. Be patient

Learning the virtue of patience is crucial. With the smartphone in our hands, the whole world seems to be in our pocket. Everyone is just a call or an instant message away. No waiting hours for a person when you can get a hold of him/her via WhatsApp.

This ease of communication can lull us into forgetting that things dont always easily work out and a few things in life take time. We have become so used to instant responses that when it does not happen, we get agitated or irritated or angry. Some things in life take time and we need to understand and wait for the better things.

2. Always have a backup plan

Many times, we get stressed because we are afraid of the uncertainties a situation might throw up. To avoid this, we should endeavour to have a backup plan in case the original plan fails or does not work out properly.

This will lessen the amount of pressure you are under since you would know what to do if Plan A fails. Having a backup plan for the backup plan always ensures you’re prepared as well.

3. Take time out for yourself

It’s important that we have some alone time for ourselves. Everybody needs time to rejuvenate and introspect. Try not to be too busy for you. You say “I am too busy. I don’t have time to even breathe.”

Well, you don’t say you don’t have time when you scroll down your Instagram or Twitter timeline for hours? (if you do)
Utilize the time to do something you truly love, something which makes you happy. All work and no play will eventually frustrate you and you will be annoyed all the time.

4.take things easy and be positive

Most of the things that happen to us, both good and bad, were reflections of our thoughts and mindset. There are times things are difficult or seem difficult because we think the task would be difficult. We start the task with a mindset that it is hard, so it is hard.
For example, our parents or grandparents find handling smartphones a tough task, but we are pros at using them!
See, it is all about perspective. Take things easy, have positive thoughts and always believe that a task is not beyond your capability to do or learn how to do it.

5. Eat healthy and workout

The food that we eat plays an important role in our attitude; a hungry (wo)man really is an angry (wo)man. Having a balanced diet is important to keep you stress-free as you skip illnesses and deficiency-related diseases.
Eating healthy, taking the needed amount of sleep and exercising all combine to ensure you stay healthy and have endorphins and other feel-good hormones coursing through your body. These stave off feelings or anger and irritation.

6. Understand that not everything is under your control

We spend our time making plans for both the near and far-off future. Some of these plans come to fruition while others just go astray. Life does not owe it to you to grant all your wishes. You must understand that you can only do your best with what is in your control and leave the rest to be. Understand the parts you have no control over can work against you.
If you acknowledge this, you will be more accepting of the times your plans do not work out the way you want.
Don’t stress over what is outside of your influence.

7. Stop making assumptions

A wise person once said, before assuming anything, try asking and following that solves a lot of problems and saves us unnecessary distress and frustration.
We make assumptions based on a few incidences or experiences only to find out we are wrong, or we assume a person won’t help because s/he rarely interacts. Ask questions, do not make assumptions.

8. Take one step at a time.

Do not try to do multiple things at a time. Focus on doing one thing. Our brains can’t multitask, and multitasking can lead to chaos we don’t want.
Complete a task properly before moving on to another. The time you feel you are saving by multitasking is lost when you must re-do it because you were not concentrating enough.
